The days are dark, the nights are light Life is out of balance for he who sees and hears. Even the moon knows things aren’t right Laughter is replaced with tears.
The ship is listing and will surely go under If the Captain takes no action. If left alone it will drift asunder And with it shall go human faction.
Afar on the horizon looms a tiny image A beacon to which our ship could steer. If only our Captain is of the proper lineage The balance of life would again be here.
Oh Captain, set the sails and take charge at the helm Bring the ship around into the wind. Tack the ship’s course toward the horizon’s realm The strength of back and sweat of labor we will lend.
Is it not for every person’s gain That we reach across the aisle to a friend? To ensure our journey will end in safe refrain An old chant begs that history not repeat again.
