This life isn’t intended for me. I don’t fit in with most people in this world. I love each member of my immediate family and I have a few friends that I admire and love. However, I realize after many years of having fooled myself, that I’m not a man of this world who enjoys all of the things, or even some of the things, that are enjoyed by people all around me. The single biggest problem I have can be summed up in one word – PEOPLE. Most people are living a phony life of their own imagination, which is fueled by the feedback they strive to acquire from other people who suffer the same social state of mind. If this is what life on this earth is all about, then I would probably be better off on one of those new planets recently discovered. Hurry up scientists, physicists, engineers, and other super intelligent people who can hasten our departure from this laboratory called earth and afford us the opportunity to try life again on another planet.

Virginia Tech’s two placekickers have given a totally new definition to the word “placekicker”. They placed themselves ahead of their team and got kicked off the traveling squad for the VT Sugar Bowl game against Michigan.I admire Coach Beamer for making the decision to send the young man home for breaking curfew the first night that VT was in New Orleans. As regards the other kicker, what can anyone say except what has already been said. I’m more bothered by the reaction from adults and youngsters alike as they continue to come forward with words of praise for the young man charged with breaking and entering.

The majority of Republicans believe Newt Gingrich is the GOP presidential candidate who “comes closest” to being “the next Reagan,” according to a political organization originally established by Ronald Reagan.

Unfortunately, the mainstream media (ABC, CBS, NBC) realizes Newt Gingrich is the only Republican candidate capable of beating Obama in the 2012 Presidential Election. Additionally, significant numbers of younger Republicans weren’t around when Newt was Speaker of the House and the only thing they know is what some disgruntled congressmen and media executives want them to know.

Lamb Leadership isn’t what this country needs at this time. We need a strong, capable leader who will appoint cabinet members who aren’t unconvicted, or convicted, criminals. We need a President who was never charged with grand theft auto. We need a President who never felt the need to inject racial bigotry into his spoken vocabulary by calling white people “crackers”, which is the equivalent to the “N” word for African Americans. We need a President (and First Lady) who never participated in flag burnings, cocaine parties, excessive spending of taxpayer money for personal trips, vacations, and other excessive and exorbitant displays of disregard for the citizens of this once great country. We need a President who will lead this country back to a position of world-wide respect instead of one who bows to foreign king’s and proclaims America to be a country of arrogant and cruel people. We need a President who knows how to appropriately show respect for dignitaries, such as the Queen of England, and our stalwart allies, such as Israel.

We need a President who isn’t joined at the hip to teleprompters because he isn’t well versed on the subject matter of which he is speaking. We need a President who isn’t indebted to a billionaire, such as George Soros, and manipulates international matters to place even more millions of dollars in the pocket of the billionaire (Reference to the offshore oil deal between Soros and Hugo Rafael Chávez, current President of Venezuela).

Newt Gingrich isn’t lilly-white innocent of any and all wrong-doing but he is a strong leader of superb intelligence, knowledge and experience. He has a self assured personality and isn’t hesitant about making important decisions that are well conceived, vetted, and implemented. He will be a President that we can be proud of and have confidence that he will lead this country once again to prosperous and peaceful times. America deserves no less and should demand as much as can be the result of leadership by Newt Gingrich. He is a President We Can Believe In.

The fantasy of their existence could be eulogized in an epilogue that reads: “Dick and Jane were found dead late in the 1970’s. Forensic experts couldn’t find a ‘Spot’ of evidence and stated it was as if they had just suddenly disappeared in one big ‘Puff’ of smoke. Born in the 1930’s Dick and Jane had become known to households throughout the country as their experiences were shared with young children during their early school years. Supporting characters included Baby (or Sally), Mother, Father, Spot (originally a cat in the 1930s but a dog in later editions), Puff the cat, and Tim the teddy bear”.

Only 2 days remain before VT and Clemson square off for the 2011 ACC Football Championship game in Charlotte, NC. Yes, I know, Clemson won the first game this year by a score of 23-3 against what appeared to be a totally mismatched VT team. Clemson's #40 defensive player was a one-man wrecking machine against obviously inferior VT offensive linemen. VT left offensive tackle (#72) was pathetic in his feeble efforts to block #40, or any other player for that matter. He has been a liability to the VT offense pretty much all year and he isn't quick enough to get out of his own way. An offensive back needs to be lined up on the left side to assist #72 but that tips off the defense that the play is a pass, while also taking the offensive back out of play for other assignments. The root of the problem is the year after year poor recruiting VT does for top-notch offensive linemen.

A close friend of yours is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Doctors say your friend has only a few months to live. A family caregiver has access to the pain medicine provided for your friend. Another person alerts you that the family caregiver is administering the pain medication so frequently that your friend is literally comatose 24/7. Your friend dies within 10 days from the time the family caregiver arrives and takes control of pain medication management. Death of your friend has occurred approximately 20 days after doctors advised your friend that death would occur within a few months.

I found life, Death found me.

I found happiness, Sadness found me.

I found knowledge, Dementia found me.

I found harmony, Man’s disputes found me.

ESPN college football analyst Ed Cunningham was in the booth for the Clemson-VT game October 1, 2011 and he made more intelligent comments about the weaknesses of VT in 60 minutes of football than I’ve heard from VT coaches in 25 years. He also pointed out flaws in the offensive game plan of VT as well as inappropriate use of selected players for specific play-calling situations.

The VT defense played as well as anyone could expect considering the lackluster play of the offense and the unimaginative play-calling of the offensive coordinator, or whomever was in charge of that failed task. VT will never be a serious contender for the National Championship until they hire quality coaches with the knowledge and experience of professionals, such as Ed Cunningham.

Devil contains the word “evil” and when spelled backward the word “lived” appears; both when combined state “evil lived”. This statement is in the past tense, which gives hope that Satan isn’t among us.

This isn’t likely, as evident by the evil that exists throughout the world and continues to be perpetrated on innocent people. Those who commit evil acts lack a conscience and have never known the feeling of remorse. They serve Satan, who thirsts for the souls of all people and will stop at nothing to bring us over to his side.

Sometimes it is worthwhile to step away from your long-time circle of friends and allow a totally new group to enter your world, if only for a temporary duration. I recently did this very thing and what I learned was both fascinating and troubling.

 I’m 67 and I grew up and was raised (reared) by parents that never once accepted any government assistance, such as unemployment compensation, although there were times when they were qualified to receive it. It was a matter of personal pride and the fact that a certain stigma was associated with those who accepted such assistance. Maybe it was the feeling of being poor, or the stubbornness of one’s character that stood between accepting, or refusing, government assistance. Somewhere along the way the passing of years has witnessed a stark change in the mentality about accepting, or refusing, government assistance.
